The Letter Under the Floorboard

Sofia had inherited her grandmother’s cottage after her passing. The little house, nestled in a quiet village, held countless memories of summer vacations and warm evenings by the fire. But as she began to renovate the aging home, she stumbled upon something unexpected—a loose floorboard in the living room.

Curious, Sofia pried it open and found a dusty envelope tucked inside. It was addressed to no one, simply marked with the words: “To the One Who Needs It.”

She carefully opened the letter. The handwriting was delicate and familiar—it was her grandmother’s. The letter began:

“Life isn’t always kind, but it’s always beautiful. If you’ve found this, perhaps you need a reminder of the joy hidden in simple things. Go to the old oak tree.”

Sofia’s heart raced as she followed the instructions. The oak tree stood tall at the edge of the property, just as it always had. Beneath it, she found a small tin box. Inside was a collection of small treasures: pressed flowers, an old photograph of her grandmother laughing as a young woman, and a note that read, “Keep smiling. Life has a way of surprising you.”

Sofia felt tears welling up. It wasn’t just a message—it was a gift of hope. From that day, she carried her grandmother’s words in her heart, finding strength in moments she needed it most.
